Public Transportation

Mar 26, 2008

Vancouver has an extensive public transit system that links up with suburbs and all of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. In Metro Vancouver, there are many public transit options, including buses, commuter rail, Skytrain and Seabus. A light rail system is currently under construction also, to be completed in 2009.

Public transit in Vancouver is run by Translink, http://translink.bc.ca/, a privately held transportation authority whose operations are overseen by a board comprised of municipal, provincial representatives, alongside private citizens. Translink co-ordinates all public transport in the Lower Mainland, so visitors and residents can change between forms of transit with ease. For more information on fares and routes, visit Translink's Fare Zone Map and Fare Pricing Guidelines. For information on how to plan get across town using various forms of public transit, visit Translink's trip planner.
